NERAG represents herpetologists in the North East of England - encompassing Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Teeside. We welcome all volunteers from this region who have a passion for conserving our native amphibians and reptiles and the habitats they depend on.
The principle aims of NERAG are to identify and record existing and new populations of herpetofauna throughout the North East. These records will be made accessible to those with an interest in wildlife management, habitat enrichment and conservation as well as developers, land owners and the general public.
If you're interested in joining, come along to one of our monthly meetings or enquire about our field trips and how to get involved with the constant effort surveys. Email any enquiries to; neraggroup@gmail.com
Northumbrian Water Limited would like to host a hibernacula building event at Fontburn. John Grundy and Ben Ralston will be arranging details and we will post them on here as soon as they are finalised.

Durham Wildlife Trust

Durham Wildlife Trust have discussed the possibility of NERAG being the basis of focused surveys for gaps in ecological data. They are happy to liaise with the ERIC (the data centre) for areas and then pass them onto the group. This will make excellent use of our time and give a focus and plenty of volunteering opportunity.
Use of email
Posted on Sunday 30th January, 2011
We would like to stress how important it is to use NERAGs email and/or its mailing list as an opportunity to gain volunteers. Let us know if you will need assistant with any surveys this year and advertise any dates you will do. Amphibian surveys do have a limit on how many people are needed and so by everyone letting others know we should have more dates. Rachel will be running some newt training events, but exact dates have yet to be finalised.
